G. A. Henty always has a good story. I have read a number of his stories and they are always well written, adventurous, and stories with good moral values.My understanding is they were originally written for young British men. I have recommended his books to home schooling groups.
Wonderfully written tale that places the heroes in the midst of historical battles and political incidents that are being felt to this day.
G. A. (George Alfred) Henty wrote a whole series of books in which he placed his characters at the heart of key historical points of history. Probably rated as amatuerish by today's fiction standards they are nevertheless well researched and provide some historical and political insights that are not currently popular. They are probably politcally incorrect and could be considered racially biased. Still, history can become tedious and boring and good fiction can often relay core facts in a less dry medium. It was worth the read.
What a wonderful tale of service and courage from them all no wonder the sun never sets on British soil not Churchill but a good read nonetheless!
I thought the book would cover the adventures of Clive. However, he is only mentioned occasionally. Other then that, it was an entertaining book.
For English history buffs or for anyone wanting to learn more about India, this is your book. This book reveals some of the British military successes when the English were at their best.
